The VMI Leadership Team

The overall VMI Project Director is

Dr. Kenneth I. Gross, UVM Professor of Mathematics and Education.

The Executive Director is

Judith Laird, UVM Lecturer in Mathematics

who also serves as Co-Director for School Implementation.

The Lead Phase 1 and Phase 2 Instructor is

Susan Ojala, UVM Lecturer in Mathematics

who also serves as a Field Mentor. 

The Lead Field Mentor is

Robert Laird, UVM Lecturer in Mathematics

who also directs the Phase 2 school district implementation. 

The VMI Administrative Assistant is

Katherine Lamphier

whose multiple roles include serving as Program Manager and Site Coordinator.

Note: Judith Laird, Susan Ojala, and Robert Laird are distinguished elementary/middle level teachers, all of whom are graduates of the VMI.

In addition to the Leadership Team the instructional staff for the VMI includes mathematicians and mathematics educators from across the state as well as two principals of elementary schools, both of whom have advanced degrees in mathematics.  The presence of principals on the VMI staff enhances the capability of VMI to address needs of priority importance to schools.
