Textbook: Elementary Number Theory (6th edition), by David
M. Burton
We will cover most of the material in Chapters 1 -
9, plus some material from some later sections.
Office Hours: Tuesday and Thursday 10:30 -12:00 (except powder days). I am in my office most of the time: email me and I'm sure we can find a time to meet.
Examinations:
The test dates are yet to be determined. If you are ill and must miss an exam, you must notify me before the exam is given in order to be allowed to take a makeup. Any student with disabilities who is eligible for accommodations must notify me explicitly if they wish to receive individual accommodations.
All handouts and additional information will be available on the
Math 255 Web page at:
http://www.emba.uvm.edu/~dinitz/teaching/math255.s08.html
Homework: There will be homework assignments daily. These homeworks sets are an essential part of this course. These are to be done in a neat and orderly fashion. We will discuss them at the next meeting of the class.
Try to have a look at the web-site from time to time. I will post assignments, some hints, solutions and maybe bonus problems on the website.
