  • Constant Coefficient Homogeneous Linear Differential Equations:
    a. Find all solutions of the differential equation y" - 4 y = 0
    b. Find all solutions of the differential equation y" - 3 y' + 2 y = 0
    c. Find all solutions of the differential equation y" + 2 y' + y = 0
    d. Find all solutions of the differential equation y" + 4 y = 0
    e. Find all solutions of the differential equation y" - 4 y' + 5 y = 0 [use the quadratic equation to find the two complex roots].
    f. Find all solutions of the differential equation y(4) - 8 y(3) + 26 y" - 40 y' + 25 y = 0 [The differential operator D4-8D3+26D2-40D+25I factors as (D2-4D+5I)2. ]


    The Final Exam will be given on Friday, May 8 in 102 Perkins (from 8a.m. to 11 a.m.). The exam will cover material up through this homework assignment.
