The Vermont Mathematics Partnership Grant
The Vermont Mathematics Partnership (VMP) is a program jointly funded by the National Science Foundation and the U.S. Department of Education through a Mathematics and Science Partnership grant, awarded in 2002. The VMP builds upon the Vermont Mathematics Initiative (VMI), described elsewhere in this website. The VMP works systemically with individual school districts, provides content-rich professional development for pre K – 12 educators and technical assistance to pre K-12 schools, develops assessment tools that help teachers closely monitor students’ understanding, and conducts research on instructional strategies to maximize student performance. The VMP is administered through the Vermont Institutes in Montpelier, and represents a partnership that includes a number of Vermont school districts, the Vermont Mathematics Initiative, the University of Vermont, Castleton State College, several other colleges in Vermont, and the Vermont Institutes.
