Applied Math Seminar Thursday, Nov. 6, 3:30-4:30pm Determinant Technique for integrable systems Prof. Kenichi Maruno University of Colorado, Boulder Abstract: I will give an introduction of the determinant technique for integrable systems. This technique has been developed by Hirota from 1980. This technique is based on Hirota bilinear method and Sato theory (which is the fundamental theory based on the Grassmann manifold and infinite dimensional Lie algebra.) In this point of view, all soliton equations are just identities of determinant or Pfaffian. Many kinds of solutions can be constructed easily by using this technique. I will show several examples in both continuous and discrete integrable systems.
