i am a professor in the school of engineering. in the electrical and computer engineering program. i hold a secondary appointment in the computer science. all my degrees are in electrical engineering.
i teach, essentially, signal processing type courses. i use a lot of wavelets. we apply them to many things, including medical problems in 1-D and in 2-D imaging.
i lean strongly towards the mathematical aspects of signal processing; we currently are working in signal processing related biomedical problems and in use of wavelets for complex multiscale systems.
i do however, spend a lot of time personally doing simulations. in the past, we developed some fairly sophisticated code for parallel processing with dsp chips. in the dsp labs we implement algorithms on dsp chips
